Welcome to the Association of Zimbabweans Based Abroad (AZBA), USA’s website.  You are a click away from entering the company of an extraordinary group of independent scholars who are thinking, researching, writing, and speaking about major challenges and opportunities facing Zimbabwe.

We are a young think tank, an independent, nonpartisan organization devoted to nation building of Zimbabwe through research, analysis, and public education with emphasis on issues of governance, economics, education and manpower development.  We are therefore in need of scholars and analysts to research issues; write papers, articles, opinion pieces, write books and participate in our public events (policy forums).

It is our belief that the governed (citizens) and the government share responsibility for conducting the kind of rigorous, innovative, clearly presented analysis on which sound public policy depends on.  As a nonpartisan entity, we seek to provide people of diverse perspectives and expertise a platform to probe the pressing problems and to identify constructive solutions.

We have a long way to go to fully embrace and implement our objectives.  These objectives can only be achieved by building a strong civil society in Zimbabwe.  There needs to be a change in the political culture of our society so that citizens and other democratic institutions can fully participate in the political life of the country.  The current political culture is a challenge and it requires all of us to begin to effect a change in the minds of people.  “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country? " J. F. Kennedy.  If you would like to work with us, please contact us.

We will be adding new capabilities to the website to incorporate your articles and research papers.  For the time being, please feel at home.
